Sewing courses are run where you can learn to make Roman blinds, curtains, cushions or develop your sewing skills. These one day courses are held at Diane's house in her sewing workshop in Rushall on the Norfolk/Suffolk border near the market town of Harleston.  Luxury bed and breakfast is available just along the lane at Jane's house where the Vintage Vanilla studio is situated in the courtyard.  So why not come to stay and attend one or two sewing courses and visit Southwold!

Sewing courses

Roman Blinds ~ this course will give you the skills and techniques to make a Roman blind and complete a sample one.  The day requires you to have already done a little sewing.

Curtains ~ on this day you will learn how to make a lined curtain and your sample will feature 3 different headings. The day requires you to have already done a little sewing.

Basic Sewing Skills ~ the day will give you the confidence to use a sewing machine and complete a simple drawstring bag and a lovely cushion with a feather pad. No previous sewing skills required.

Cushion Covers  ~ this day concentrates on more elaborate cushions and is geared to those who are already confident with machine sewing.  You will complete two beautiful  cushions with feather pads. The first will feature a zip and piping and the second uses vintage and contemporary trimmings and decoratiion to let you create a unique piece.

Outline of the day
These relaxed one day courses include all materials and a delicious homemade lunch. You will receive a folder with notes on the techniques and skills you have learnt, plus the sample you have made. No particular sewing skills are required for any of these courses and by the end of the day you will be ready to start on your own project at home!

The day starts at 9.15am and finishes at 3.30pm. We take a maximum of 4 students so that participants can receive individual attention.

The only thing you need to bring is a pair of sharp dressmaking scissors. Sewing sundries for your future projects will be available for sale on the day, along with dressmaking scissors if needed.

Any of the above courses can be provided on a 1:1 basis at £220 for the day.

Learn and Make
Combine a day's 1:1 tuition with making a Roman blind for your home.
£280 for interlined
£250 for lined only.

Booking Procedure
Roman blinds and curtains courses cost £95.  The basic sewing skills and cushion courses are £115 per day.  To apply for a place please print off and complete the booking form and send it to us together with your deposit cheque, or phone and we will be happy to pop one in the post.  There is a discount for students  booking B & B and 2 consecutive courses e.g. Roman blinds followed by curtain making.  Please telephone for details:  01379 741436.

Deposit
Each course requires a deposit of £20 to reserve your place and the balance is to be paid one month prior to the date of the course. We will confirm the receipt of the deposit and your booking for the course.

Terms & Conditions
If you need to cancel your booking for any reason, providing you give at least 14 days notice of your cancellation we will refund the amount you have paid less the deposit. Regrettably, we cannot offer a refund when less notice has been given. If for any reason we have to cancel a course we will inform you immediately and offer an alternative date or a full refund
