• If your finished blind width is less than 127cm wide, the length of your fabric will need to be the finished drop plus 30cm for the heading and hemming allowances. eg if your blind drop is 130cm you will need 160cm.
• If your finished blind width is more than 127cms then you will need 2 drops (2 widths) of fabric plus 30cms for each drop (width). eg. If you blind drop is 130cms you will need 2 drops of 160sm = 320cms of fabric.
If your fabric has a pattern repeat extra fabric will be needed, eg if your fabric has a pattern repeat of 20cms you will simply need to buy an extra 20cms.
It is always better to round fabric up to the next ½ metre when buying, eg with regard to the above measurements you could purchase 200cms (2 metres) and 350cms (3½ metres) of fabric.
The above measurements are based on your chosen fabric being 137-140cms wide. Some fabrics, especially silk, may only be 120cms wide. In this case please call us to help you with the fabric calculations.
Please do not use fabrics with a check as they are not always woven straight, also avoid fabrics with a pile like velvets as the blind will look too bulky.
Please telephone or email us if you have any doubts. We are always happy to help!
The calculations above are based on the finished drop.
